QFest Brings Jim McGreevey to Philadelphia

QFest Brings Former New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey to Philadelphia for Screening of Fall to Grace, followed by a Meet and Greet Reception

This year, QFest is excited to announce that Former New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevey will be in town for the screening of HBO’s Fall to Grace, followed by a cocktail reception where guests will have the opportunity to chat with him about his life as seen in this riveting documentary. Director Alexandra Pelosi catches up with McGreevey nearly a decade after he shocked the world by announcing his resignation as Governor and declaring himself” I am a gay American.” As a strong believer in second chances, McGreevey now spends his time studying to become an Episcopalian priest and mentoring women in the New Jersey penal system.

Following the screening of Fall to Grace (Saturday, July 20th, 2:15pm Ritz East 1), the Philadelphia Cinema Alliance will host a charitable benefit honoring special guest, Jim McGreevey, from 4:00pm- 6:00pm at Liberte at the Sofitel Philadelphia Hotel, 120 S. 17th St. Guests who make a generous donation of $25 will enjoy complimentary appetizers and drink specials at a cash bar, along with the chance to meet and greet McGreevey up close and personal. A jazz trio from Philadelphia Freedom Band will perform live during the early evening event. This is a ticketed only event, purchased in advance online, by phone, at Giovanni’s Room or at the door. All access badges will not be honored for the fundraising event.

Fifty percent of the donations raised at this event will go to benefit McGreevey’s charity of choice, “All Saints Episcopal Church LGBTQ Mission;” with the other half benefiting QFest 2013.

Host committee includes Stephen Carlino & Dennis Fee, David Schellenberg, Al Besse & Scott Evans, Jim Ounsworth & Lizzy Rimington, Dan McCaffery, John Herzins & Duane Bumb. To join the host committee with your donation of $100 or more, please contact Thom Cardwell at thomcard@aol.com.

Sponsors include: Sofitel Philadelphia Hotel, HBO, Philadelphia Cinema Alliance, QUEERtimes.net and Philadelphia Freedom Band.
